Collection: Washington Quarters

The Washington Quarter is a coin that has been in circulation in the United States since 1932.  It features the portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States, on the Obverse Side.  The Washington Quarter was introduced to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of George Washington

Before the Washington Quarter, the Standing Liberty Quarter was in circulation from 1916 to 1930.  However, due to its design issues and the desire to honor Washington, it was decided to replace it with a new design.

The Washington Quarter was designed by John Flanagan, a sculptor from New York.  It features a bust of George Washington on the Obverse Side, along with the words "Liberty" and "In God We Trust."  The Reverse side of the coin depicts an eagle with outstretched wings, perched on a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing America's readiness for war and its desire for peace.
